| This project was designed to introduce or to review the basics of canvas embroidery. While stitching twelve ribbons designed to adorn the top of an oval box, students will use a variety of composite canvas stitches, experiment with Florentine patterns, and work charted designs. The background areas will be worked in basketweave, with emphasis on stitching with the grain of the canvas and beginning and ending threads correctly. Students will select their own colors and may elect to work the design in a rectangular format for use as a bag front or a pillow if desired. Mounting and finishing instructions are included in the instruction booklet. |
