Lisa’s Lilacs portrays a woman carrying a spray of three-dimensional lilacs in one hand and a watering can in the other. Needleweaving and surface embroidery produce the three-dimensional flowers, and the watering can is kid leather appliquéd onto the canvas. She is watering a bed of beaded flowers stitched in two layers. Leaves are created in a traditional stumpwork method using fabric and wire. The bunny is padded, and color blending with floss shades his fur. Lisa’s gardening outfit is stitched as charted needlepoint stitches. The tree is created by using needlepoint and surface embroidery stitches in silk, floss, and Kreinik braid. |
