Create a bell, a stocking, or a five-inch square while learning Florentine work, a broken Florentine pattern, string art stitches, and a combination pattern background stitch. One or all of the projects may be completed during the course. Graphed letters are included for insertion into the pattern when the bell and stocking are stitched. Use your favorite letter to represent a state or initial to personalize the piece. Finishing instructions for the stocking and bell ornaments have been included so that the stitched ornaments can be elegant additions to your personal holidays. The square can be framed, made into a purse or pillow, or even into an eyeglass case or sewing kit. A kit is available for this project, and includes stranded cotton, metallic, and #18 mono canvas. However, the student is encouraged to create a personal statement by selecting her/his own colors and canvas gauge. An option for substituting stranded silk threads is also included.
