Puddles on the Path

Puddles on the Path is an aerial view of a rain-soaked garden. Puddles cover the cobblestone walkway, the umbrella has been tossed aside, the sandals kicked off, and cute little toes step into a puddle. A daisy patch is created using washers and beads. The umbrella is a stumpwork slip stitched on an embroidery hoop. Color blended bullions become roses and the vines are an exercise in free-form embroidery. Overdyed threads are manipulated to show shadow, lichen, and moss on the path. Opalescence creates the impression of sparkling puddles. The sandals and frogs employ traditional stumpwork transfer methods in their creation.
