Description:

Joan Thomasson will teach "Marigolds and Moorish Tiles" over the period March 5-7, 2010 in Fernandina Beach, Florida. This event is sponsored by the Eight Flags Needlepointers Chapter of the ANG and is open to all interested parties.

Course Description

From the Alhambra in Spain to the lanai and gardens of Florida and California, intricate Moorish tiles are patterned into beautiful geometric designs. Fountains and pools shimmer with colored tiles amid baskets and pots of luscious flowers. Hibiscus, geraniums and impatiens bloom year round in colorful profusion, while begonias and orchids grace winter and spring gardens in sheltered corners. Stitch the delightfully intricate patterns in Thread Gatherer's Silk'n'Colors, overdyed flosses, DMC floss and Kreinik metallics. Accent your tiles with lush baskets and pots of marigolds, geraniums, sedum and petunias. Level: Advanced intermediate Design size: Approx 6" x 8" on 24 count congress cloth.

Friday - 10 am to 4 pm
Saturday - 10 am to 4 pm
Sunday - 12 pm to 4 pm

Costs

For Eight Flags Chapter members, the estimated cost of the workshop will be $220 which includes the full kit - canvas, threads, stretcher bars, and instruction.

For non-Eight Flags members (but you are an ANG member), the estimated cost of the workshop will be $260. Current ANG members may join the Eight Flags Chapter for an annual fee of $24 and pay the Chapter members fee for the course.

For non-ANG members, the estimated cost of the workshop will be $300.

A deposit of $100 (non-refundable after Dec 15, 2009) is required by Nov 15 to hold your spot. The class is limited to 20 students so that each student will get plenty of individual attention. Balance of fee will be due 1 Jan 2010 prior to receipt of full kit for pre-workshop stitching. Pre-workshop stitching is the borders of the piece.

Box lunches will be offered on Friday and Saturday for $15 each or you may bring your lunch if you prefer. Coffee, soda and water will be provided during breaks but no drinks will be allowed in the instruction area unless the container can be sealed to avoid any spills.

Pre-work is required for this class. Kits and pre-work instructions will be provided to you in January 2010 so you have time to complete your pre-work.
