Vincent van Gogh spent some time in the south of France, and there became enamored with the abundant sunflowers that grew about his home. His portrayals, which captured the essence and beauty of the blooms, have always fascinated the viewer and are a well known image in the world. Tribute to Vincent is my interpretation of this theme, a study in analogous colors and a sampler of raised techniques to affect texture. Spectacular flowers are worked in Japanese flat silk, in detached needleweaving, in bullions, and others in traditional canvaswork stitches.
