Geometric patterns are found in all Japanese art. The patterns in this study can be found in Imari plates, fabrics, paintings, pottery, woven mats, and ties for obis, to name a few. The patterns to be interpreted in this study are the flax leaf pattern, nami, tortoise, and the Ajiro zashi pattern. The colors chosen for this study are reminiscent of the dark blues and iron reds found in the very old Imari designs. The background areas between the ribbons are pale peach in the jizashi stitch.
