Femme Fatale

This fan box is stitched on 18-count canvas — hand drawn over a gold metallic wash. The design is a collection of stitches and patterns that symbolize the mature woman as she’s traveled life’s paths — tempered by her experiences, words, deeds, memories — of kindness, wisdom, and love. Under the front flap, random vertical stitches show the colors of flames against a night sky. The back panel has a center motif of the Japanese kanji for “fire.” The project can also be constructed as a purse by adding a strap or handle.
