Mere photographs cannot capture the visual impact of this spectacular composition. Two white poinsettias, glistening with the sparkle of newly fallen snow, are placed against light-blue Congress cloth. Enhancing the lustrous, silken petals are holly leaves outlined in silver bullion and painted in class with a metallic paint marker. Winter Whites is a study in the basic and enhancement techniques of easy realistic shading, along with couching bullion and creating accents of painted areas. Stitching time will be allotted in class for experimentation and practice with instructor’s help.
