Look for the gold of the Christmas star in Through the Tinsel. Inspired by the poem Kneeling in Bethlehem, and through computer manipulation, we can look through embroidered tinsel at a beautiful dimensional Christmas scene. Students may choose to use the instructor’s original watercolor (computer-printed on canvas) or recycle a favorite Christmas card for the center of the ornament. The innovative woven Christmas star may be stitched onto Congress cloth directly, or, it may be stitched through the actual Christmas card. Techniques used include goldwork, blackwork, and needlepoint.
