Spa Reading, a cover for a paperback, lets you read anything in public without divulging your selection. The colors reflect reading as a time to refresh, renew, and relax. The cover also provides a way to spot your book among others in the household and provides a built-in bookmark. The project was designed as an exploration of color and design juxtaposition, with freedom to explore merging design lines, form and structure, diagonal and vertical stitches, and patterns. Issues of texture and light play are examined, and bargello, trellis, ribbon, and diagonal patterns are used.
