Special EventsFirst-Timers' Reception Party | Welcome Banquet | Chapter Presidents and Officers Meeting | Membership Summit | Silent/Live Auctions | Needlework Expo! | Life Patron Luncheon | Teachers' Showcase | Awards Banquet | First-Timers' Reception Party You have registered and settled in your room: Now what? Come to the First-Timers' Reception to meet the ANG Board and get a description of events for the week. You can mix and mingle with the rest of the First-Timers, and have some tea, lemonade, and cookies. It's a fun time. Remember, your Participant's Handbook gives you a day-by-day listing of all the events . Welcome Banquet The Welcome Banquet is a kick-off for the upcoming week, so come and be welcomed! Before the banquet, gather early and see those you already know and make new friends. The Board of Directors will greet you, and our volunteers, who are the "heart of ANG," will be introduced. Ribbons will also be awarded for the judged Exhibit pieces, but the actual ribbons will not be placed on the appropriate pieces until after the winners are announced at the banquet. Chapter Presidents and Officers Meeting This meeting provides a get-together with your peers from other ANG Chapters to discuss shared concerns. Attendees will have the freedom to discuss any topics that may be of concern to all. Membership: Lunch and Learn Bring a box lunch and join us for the Membership: Lunch & Learn session. There are always new points to discuss and previous issues to review. Your constructive comments and suggestions are welcome. Silent Auction and Live Auction Get ready for the Silent and Live Auctions. These are among the most exciting Seminar events! Hundreds of ANG members, shop owners, and others have donated stitched items, canvases, supplies, tools... you name it. To bid, you need to obtain a bidding paddle, beginning Monday, September 8, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and during the day on Tuesday, September 9. Start viewing and bidding on the Silent Auction items before class on Tuesday. Bids close at 5 p.m. You need to protect your bid by checking the item(s) frequently during the day! When bidding closes and tallies are done, winning bids will be posted. At 4 p.m., viewing for the Live Auction begins, and the excitement grows during the evening. Then, at 7 p.m., active bidding begins. Our favorite auctioneer, Randy Holford, will return, and when he auctions an item, it's hard to resist! All auction proceeds are used to fund the educational programs of ANG. Needlework Expo! It's a needleworker's dream: shopping for those hard to find items, "stuff" you never even knew you wanted — you get the idea! There is no admission fee for this event, and all attendees and the general public are welcome. Look for ANG jewelry, the Host Chapter souvenirs, fibers, needles, gadgets, canvases, and much more. If you would like to sell at Expo!, please refer to the Registration Form for table costs. To be a seller, you must be an ANG member registered for Seminar and the items sold must be needlework related or of interest to the needleworker. The deadline for receipt of completed contracts and table payments is July 18, 2008. Life Patron Luncheon As an ANG Life Patron, you are invited to join other Life Patron members at the Life Patron Luncheon. Make your reservation by using the Registration Form. There will be a special guest speaker. Teachers’ Showcase Meet ANG teachers and gather information on their current teaching pieces that are available for groups other than at Seminar. This is a perfect chance to see some of the actual pieces that you might like to have taught at your chapter location. All needlework teachers (including those not part of the Indian Wells faculty) are invited to participate. To request a table, you must be a registered Seminar attendee. Teachers will have available, at the Showcase, written information about their workshops, fees, and traveling requirements. All display tables must be requested by using the Registration Form; tables must be requested by July 11, 2008. NOTE: Tables are 6' (six feet) tables. There will be no ½ (one-half) tables or Special Placements. Awards Banquet It's time to say farewell and celebrate the awarding of the coveted ribbons, to those chosen from all Exhibit entries: Best in Show, People's Choice, and Delegates' Choice. At this banquet, special announcements will be made concerning the winners of the Louise Meier Scholarships, Literary Award, and Presidential Citations. ANG's certification programs will award certificates and pins to those successfully completing another level of their certification: Judging, Master Teacher, Master Needle Artist, and Needlework Appraisal. Thanks to a new Opportunity Basket Coordinator, the drawings for the actual baskets will be held at the end of dinner. You don't have to be present to win, but we certainly hope that you are! Help us close another exciting Seminar and begin planning for Seminar 2009 in Milwaukee. |
