Special EventsFirst-Timers' Reception | Welcome Banquet | Chapter Presidents and Officers Meeting | Membership Summit | Silent/Live Auctions | Needlework Expo! | Life Patron Luncheon | Teachers' Showcase | Awards Banquet | First-Timers Reception You have registered and settled in your room: Now what? Come to the First-Timers Reception, meet the ANG Board, and get a description of events for the week. You can mix and mingle with the rest of the First-Timers. It’s a fun time, so don’t miss it. Remember, your Participants Handbook gives you a day-by-day listing of all classes and events. Welcome Banquet The Welcome Banquet is a kick-off for the upcoming week! Before the banquet, gather early and see those you already know and make new friends. The Board of Directors will greet you, and our volunteers and faculty will be introduced. Special Award ribbon winners will be announced and their winning entries will be unveiled at the banquet. Chapter Presidents and Officers Meeting This meeting provides a get-together with your peers from other ANG Chapters to discuss shared concerns. Attendees will have the freedom to discuss any topics that may be of concern to all. Membership Forum Have you ever wondered what your dues are used for? Or where that canvas you stitched for the auction went? Or how to meet the needs of the beginning and the advanced stitchers in your chapter? We might not be able to give you the answers to all of your questions, but we can promise you the opportunity to share them! Bring your lunch, your questions, your solutions, and your interest; join fellow ANG members and share in a lively discussion of membership issues and topics! Silent Auction and Live Auction Get ready for the Silent and Live Auctions. These are among the most exciting Seminar events! Hundreds of ANG members, shop owners, and others have donated stitched items, canvases, supplies, and tools. To bid, you will need to obtain a bidder’s paddle. They will be available beginning Monday, August 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., and during the day on Tuesday, September 1. Start viewing and bidding on the Silent Auction items before class. Bids close at 5:30 p.m. You will need to check on your bids frequently during the day! When bidding closes and tallies are done, the winning bids will be posted. At 5 p.m., viewing for the Live Auction begins, and the excitement grows during the evening. Then at 7 p.m., active bidding begins. Our favorite auctioneer, Randy Holford, will return, and when he auctions an item, it’s hard to resist! All auction proceeds are used to fund the educational programs of ANG. Needlework Expo! A needleworker’s dream: shopping for those hard to find items, “stuff” you never even knew you wanted — you get the idea! There is no admission fee for this event, and all attendees and the general public are welcome. Look for ANG jewelry, the Host Chapter souvenirs, threads, needles, gadgets, canvases, and much more. If you would like to sell at Expo!, please refer to the Registration Form for table costs. To be a seller, you must be an ANG member registered for Seminar and the items sold must be needlework related or of interest to the needleworker. The deadline for receipt of completed contracts and table payments is July 10, 2009. Life Patron Luncheon As an ANG Life Patron, you are invited to join other Life Patron members at the Life Patron Luncheon. Make your reservation by using the Registration Form on page 39. There will be a special guest speaker. Teachers Showcase Meet ANG teachers and gather information on their current teaching pieces that are available for groups other than at Seminar. This is a perfect chance to see some of the actual pieces that you might like to have taught at your chapter location. All needlework teachers (including those not part of the Milwaukee faculty) are invited to participate. To request a table, you must be a registered Seminar attendee. At the Showcase, teachers will have available written information about their workshops, fees, and traveling requirements. All display tables must be requested by using the Registration Form on page 35; tables must be requested by July 10, 2009. NOTE: Tables are eight-foot tables. There will be no ½ (one-half) tables or Special Placements. Awards Banquet It’s time to say farewell and celebrate the awarding of the coveted ribbons to those chosen from all Exhibit entries: Best in Show, People’s Choice, and Delegates’ Choice. At this banquet, special announcements will be made concerning the winners of the Louise Meier Scholarships, Literary Award, and Presidential Citations. ANG’s certification programs will also award certificates and pins to those successfully completing another level of their certification: Judging, Master Teacher, Master Needle Artist, and Needlework Appraisal. The long-awaited drawing for the Opportunity Baskets will be held at the end of dinner. You don’t have to be present to win. Help us close another exciting Seminar and begin planning for Seminar 2010 in Columbus, Ohio. |
