Welcome Letter from the Local Seminar Coordinator

Welcome to the 2011 Mission Stitch Seminar being held in San Antonio, Texas. I cannot tell you how excited The Needle Pointers of the Woodlands, Bay Area Stitchers, Lake Houston Stitchers, Piney Pointers, Lone Star, and Blue Bonnet chapters are to be putting on this big shindig in Texas.

San Antonio has several Spanish Missions. One of the most popular is The Alamo Mission, where Daniel Boone and Davey Crockett fought their famous battle. There is also Mission Concepcion De Acuna, Mission San Juan Capistrano (home of the swallows), San Francisco De La Espada Mission, and, of course, our Mission San Jose, where the beautiful Rose Window is located.

The Marriott Rivercenter, where we will be staying, is located downtown on the awesome River Walk, so bring comfortable shoes. You will find Mexican food, music, dancing, mariachi bands, and boat rides that go on for several miles, allowing you to explore San Antonio at its best. The River Walk was also the site for the movie Miss Congeniality.

There will be plenty of tours and activities during the week and plenty of shopping. The Local Committee will have lots of gifts to award during the week's stay, including John Waddell's gifts in The Spirit of San Antonio.

So get ready, stitchers, for a fun and exciting Seminar! Y'all come down now!

Welcome Letter from the Director of Seminars

Your ANG Board invites you to join us as we gather in San Antonio for Seminar 2011. The Seminar hotel, the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter, is located downtown on the River Walk. It is surrounded by shopping and restaurants.

We are offering eight days of great classes from some of ANG's best teachers. There are classes for all skill levels and all interests. And plenty of classes with a Texas theme. Our eight days in San Antonio will be packed with lots of Special Events: the Banquets, First Timers' Reception, the Auctions, and Expo! We are also offering great tours to some of San Antonio's best attractions, including the San Antonio Botanical Gardens, El Mercado (a Mexican-style market), and several of San Antonio's famous missions.

Be sure to save some time in your San Antonio stay to visit the Seminar Exhibit, where you will see the work of some of ANG's best stitchers. Don't miss the Bookstore, which has the largest selection of needlework books anywhere, or the ANG Shop, where Nancy Laux, owner of The Needle House of Houston, will welcome you with some of that great Texas hospitality.

Once you decide what classes to take and what tours interest you, fill in the Registration Form and mail or fax it to the Registrar. We have once again included the new Class Selection form. It will give you the ability to plot out your days of classes, thus making class selection a little easier. Be sure to read all the instructions for filling in the Registration and Exhibit forms, as there are some changes from previous years.

So mark your calendars for August 26, 2011, send your registration in early, and plan to join your ANG friends as we gather for a Texas-style shindig in San Antonio. I look forward to seeing all of you there!
