Stitch of the Month
August 1999: Double Tied Oblong Cross and Variations

by Beth Robertson

This stitch creates a raised effect. Work this stitch in two different threads of the same color, one for the cross and one for the tie downs or in two different color threads. There are many variations of this stitch. The cross can be elongated and additional tie downs added. You can also work the tie downs first and place the cross stitch over them.
