Stitch of the Month
November 1999: Parisian Stitch

by Beth Robertson

The Parisian Stitch can be worked vertically or horizontally. It is made up of straight Gobelin stitches worked over 2 and 4 canvas threads. It produces a diamond shape that is great for clothing or backgrounds. It is easy to compensate and is great for small or large areas. The Parisian can also be doubled by working two straight stitches over 2 threads and then two stitches over 4 threads. This variation shown below is called the Double Parisian. This variation produces more pattern and texture.
