Pavilion Stitch and Variation

The Pavilion Stitch is an excellent choice for a background stitch.  The effect you achieve with this stitch varies greatly with your thread choice.  A stranded thread will provide better coverage.

A variation on the Pavilion Stitch above is a Pavilion Diamond Stitch shown below.  There is open canvas between each Pavilion Stitch.  This variation produces a stronger pattern than the one above.
