January – Reversed Criss Cross Hungarian Stitch

  1. With 3 plies of Soie d'Alger #2546 do the stitch as shown on the diagram below. (straight stitches only)
  2. Attach a size 14 Sundance bead #4 Hex in place of each of the small cross stitches. I have shown below the proper way to attach beads on an intersection to keep them from flopping over and showing the hole of the bead. Below are hints for attaching the beads.
    1. I do my beading on needlepoint canvas by first placing a strip or two of double stick tape on a business card or a 3X5 card cut in half.
    2. I use the business card because it is small, and you can slide it very close to your beading area as the beading thread becomes shorter. To keep this business card in place, use a small magnet on the back and front of the canvas on one end of the business card.
    3. I use a Trolley Needle to help open the beading thread as it closes on each side of the bead in step two.
