There are two segments on each side, that make up the heart shapes.

Use two-ply of thread 7_____ to stitch the lower heart shape. Come up in the odd numbered holes with the tip of your needle pointing towards the outside of the stitch, then go over all threads stitched. Lay the threads smoothly before you go down into the even numbered holes. After you go down into hole #40, continue putting the rest of the even numbered stitches into that same hole.

Rotate canvas one quarter and repeat, using thread #8_____. Repeat the rotation and change of thread two more times.
