Solstice Summer
| Stitcher: | Robyn McVey, Illinois |
| Designer: | Kay Stanis |
| Location: | Hanging in the stitcher's living room |
| Description: | Robyn had the opportunity to take this workshop from
the closest ANG chapter in Peoria, IL approximately 90
miles from home. She had long admired Kay Stanis's work
and jumped at the chance to study under her. Since
joining her local EGA chapter three years prior to this
workshop, Robyn knew that Silk & Metal was something
she wanted to do when she "grew up." This was
her first class in the Silk & Metal technique and was
able to not only complete the piece but receive a second
place ribbon at the ANG exhibit. Robyn credits the
excellent oral and written instructions of Kay Stanis for
the success of this piece. Solstice Summer also won best small picture at the Illinois State Fair in 1997. |
