Make a Joyful Stitch
| Stitcher: | Judy Bullock |
| Designer: | Ilse Altherr |
| Location: | Hanging in the stitcher's bedroom, with its beautiful ribbon. |
| Description: | Judy had only done a small amount of Blackwork, when
her chapter decided to do this Correspondence Course. But
she had done enough that she knew she really wanted to do
this design. Ilse Altherr had designed this for the
student to stitch as it was, or to redesign the elements
in a different way. Judy traced the elements on paper,
cut them out, and experimented with several designs,
finally deciding on this one. She used the green and
mauve colors, instead of the traditional black, because
she wanted to hang the piece in her bedroom. The framing came about by accident. As Judy was picking moldings in the frame shop, the two moldings shown in the picture happened to be laying side-by-side on the counter. As they lay there, she wondered out loud if there was any way to put them together, because both colors matched the piece so beautifully. Well, as you can see, it was possible! |
