Persian Rug Design
| Stitcher: | Jana Fouladpour |
| Designer: | This was a Lee canvas that the stitcher purchased via the Internet. Jana changed some of the color tones slightly to more closely match the colors in her home. |
| Location: | The piece is currently in the stitcher's home and will most likely remain there. As soon as she has a cushion made for the window seat in her bedroom window, it will be displayed there, along with other needlepoint pillows. |
| Description: | Jana was inspired to stitch this piece
for the National ANG Seminar, as she wanted to enter it
in the Princess Grace competition. She had always wanted
to stitch something in what she calls
"traditional" needlepoint (basketweave, tent
stitch, etc.) and she has always been intrigued by the
color and design of Persian carpets. Then one day she
just happened to stumble onto a Web page and there it
was, "the canvas she had been looking for." Not
only was it a beautiful design, but the colors were
pretty close to the colors she has in her home. Jana sent
for the canvas and you know the rest of the story. Jana had originally thought she would like to stitch this canvas in silk, but found that it was going to be very expensive to do so, and she didn't know if the silk would hold up as well as the wool. This canvas was well painted and it was a joy to stitch. Some day (when her ship comes in) Jana would like to stitch a Persian rug on canvas. |
