| Description: | Pern always had the idea of what Mother Earth looked
like. In Pern's mind her role is to bring balance and
peace to the earth. Pern needed to show how she represented all nations; she thought the best way to do this with needlepoint was with her hair. The texture created by several threads demonstrates multiplicity of the human race. Pern had the idea if she emerged out of the sea and realigned the continents maybe that would symbolize her bringing about world peace. The depth of the sea is reflected by the blue color gradation which also represents the depth of human possibilities. The ribbon was used to create the movement of the sea. The land masses were first padded to represent all forms of earth. Pern dedicated this piece to Princess Diana who also moved from one continent to another working to bring about World Peace. |
