Crown of Hearts

Stitcher: Diann Kohn
Designer: Jean Hilton for Rainbow Gallery
Location: Hanging in the stitcher's formal dining room
Description: This was only the second piece of needlepoint that Diann had done. Lynda Carlson, the woman who taught it as a class at a local shop, showed it to her knowing that she loved cross stitch patterns with hearts in them, also her curiosity to learn something new and different. Diann was intrigued by the Amadeus motif and the fanned corners (fans are another love of hers as are bows but no bows in this design). Lynda also showed her how she could change the colors and threads to make it something more personal. Needless to say Lynda and Diann quickly became great friends as she taught Diann so much more about needlepoint. She would also like to say how important it is to have someone in your local needlework shop that is this devoted to teaching. Diann had only started doing needlepoint 4 years ago when Lynda showed her that needlepoint is not just "Tent Stitch".

The design was displayed as a square. Diann chose to frame it on its points giving it a Diamond shape.
