Celebration

| Description: | Flowers have always been an important part of
Marnie's life since childhood. Her parents were florists
in Denver and traveled the country teaching flower
arranging much as Marnie does today teaching needlework.
Her father's death early in 1998 inspired her to
"Celebrate" his life by stitching this
embroidery on canvas to honor him and his talent. Having grown up surrounded by flowers, their fresh scent, glorious shapes and colors influencing her throughout her youth, Marnie believed an umbrella filled with them would be an appropriate design to capture her message. Flower shapes are intriguing shapes to create. Round shapes, sharp shapes, undulating shapes are exciting contrasts to one another. The adventure of creating this design begins with the addition of color choices. As she progressed Marnie was having such a wonderful time she truly did not want this project to end. |
