Opium

| Description: | Needless to say, the needlepoint portion of this
jacket was adapted from the fabric print that is used for
the dress and for the jacket lining. Caela loves to design and sew one-of-a-kind jackets and other garments. The purchase of the fabric was one of those terrific impulse-buying moments. (The real purpose of her trek to the fabric store was to buy one-half yard of upholstery foam!) By the time she returned home, Caela had mentally designed the outfit. Her intent was to complete the outfit in time to wear to her best friends' son's wedding. That plan did not materialize since the stitching occupied nearly six months' time. Fortunately, another auspicious event is happening in the near future. On that occasion, and every other time Caela wears "Opium", she knows she'll feel like a million dollars. Whenever Caela wears a finely embellished garment, someone always asks if she's not afraid to wear it (because of spills, etc.) No, she's not afraid or concerned. Caela is one of those people who uses her good crystal and china, too! She encourages anyone to create and wear items like "Opium" with two cautions. First, select threads and materials that will withstand dry-cleaning at a fine dry-cleaning establishment. Second, locate that outstanding dry cleaner. (To find the very best, consult the most elegant, expensive clothing store in the nearest large city.) |
