My Favorite Necklace, For Shore!
| Stitcher: | Caela Conn Tyler |
| Designer: | Caela Conn Tyler |
| Location: | In the stitcher's possession and is often worn with great pleasure |
| Description: | The necklace evolved from two sources. First, the
abalone shell had been in Caela's "stash" for
several years - just waiting for the right opportunity.
Second, a very special evening at Bandon, Oregon awed her
as she and her daughter explored the huge shoreline rocks
at low tide, getting "up front and personal"
with the sea stars and sea anemones clinging to the
rocks. When Caela first saw the wonders of the rocks, she knew that, someday, she would stitch her interpretation. That seed of inspiration coupled with a desire to create something tangible which would symbolize a very magical vacation she shared with her daughter. Caela created this as a necklace because of Joyce Lukomiski's magnificent needleart necklaces (which Caela had coveted for years). Finally, the timing was right; she had completed several teaching proposals and desperately needed to do something personal. Caela would like to offer two bits of advice. Always keep your camera handy! Then whenever you take photos which may be a source for design and/or stitching, have double prints made. You then have one set of prints for your personal photo album(s) and a second set for your collection of stitch/design sources and ideas. |
