Camelot

Stitcher: Susanne Nash
Designer: Catherine Coleman, who dedicated the design to the memory of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis - 1929 - 1994.
Location: At Needlepoint Paradise, Stafford, Texas, where Susanne is the manager
Description:

This piece of needlework has more air miles than Susanne does. When she was almost finished with stitching, she attempted to find a finisher for the piece, and began her search locally in Houston. Several of the local finishers simply shook their heads, and politely said, "I don't think so!" Then she contacted Catherine Coleman in British Columbia, Canada, but did not want to use her Canadian finisher unless as a last resort, since she did not want to hassle with Customs.

Finally, she resorted to the ANG discussion list, and posted a question asking if anyone knew of a finisher who had completed this Camelot bolster pillow project. While most of the replies were from fellow stitchers of the piece with the same question, one referred her to a finisher in Washington state who might be able to help. After a phone conversation, and swapping finishing instructions, she took a leap of faith, mailed the piece to Washington, and hoped for the best.

After a message was received that the piece was on its way back to Houston, Susanne anxiously awaited its arrival. The box was delivered, and she and a friend set about opening it, and opened, and opened, and opened, and opened, for 25 minutes. At which point her friend observed, "If this is an example of the work of this finisher, it will look wonderful."...and it does!

So, thanks to the ANG discussion list, Susanne's pillow received 30 points out of 30 for finishing, and she received a ribbon for her very first exhibit entry. Now if she could only claim those air miles...Houston-Washington, Washington-Houston, Houston-Atlanta!
