Victoria chose this design primarily because she liked its Oriental theme, but also because it was complex and detailed enough to need tent stitch. (She wanted a rest from fancy stitches.) To keep it from being just another "tent stitch in wool" piece, she chose fibers other than wool (mostly silk) and also used color-blending to shade several areas. This ultimately turned out to be one of the most challenging and demanding pieces she had ever stitched. |
