I had stitched about four of the ten pieces of Mollie, the Glamour Cat, a free standing stuffed cat, when I realized that she was too much fun to do only once. A plan for Maggie, her twin sister, began to develop. Mollie has a patchwork pattern with each patch stitched leaving an exposed canvas pattern using Caron Watercolours and various metallics. I reversed all the charts for Maggie so she would be Mollie's mirror image. Mollie was on sage green canvas and I chose lavender for Maggie. Since this is 120 degrees around the color wheel, I chose thread colors which are also more or less 120 degrees away from Mollie's, keeping the darkest and lightest accent patches about the same. I began stitching Maggie before Mollie was finished and completed them at the same time. I have already started their boyfriends, Maurice and Montgomery, who are on dark green and dark purple canvas - and ideas for a few more cats after these two are surfacing! |
