Description: |
My
inspiration for the angels was my mother.
She was always after me to design one.
While caring for her during her last days, the first of twelve was
completed.
It was the last piece of needlework she saw me do.
They are all named Marie Rose after her. My idea came from the white Sevres porcelain figurines at the Art Institute of Chicago and my love of lace and open work. Her dress is done in Hardanger or Hardangersom on 28 ct. Melinda. While I was visiting at Vesterheim, the Norwegian museum in Decorah, Iowa, I was told that Hardangersom was the proper name for Hardanger! The thread I used was Londonderry sizes 30, 50, 80 and 100. Her head and heads are custom made porcelain. |
