I
am constantly watching for truly unique charted designs that I consider a
cut above the mainstream designs. Geometric designs, samplers, and
hearts, etc. are fun and usually quick to stitch but very few present a
true challenge. “Mother’s Rocker” does! This truly
different design with great colors and a good variety of stitches is what
attracted me. It also allowed good practice laying silk threads and
working with beads. Kimberly’s inspiration for her design came
from a wood carving on the back of her mother-in-law’s platform rocker.
It is a fun needlepoint piece that gave me many hours of total enjoyment. I
credit Kimberly for a great deal of my success with “Mother’s
Rocker” winning this award.
Not only does she have some wonderful designs, her charts and
instructions are excellent.
I hope to see much more from her in the many years to come.
This
intriguing piece was also judged first in the Adult Amateur Division and
Best Commercial Entry in the first Southern
Needle Arts Exhibition held in 1998. |
