I’ve
been a needlepointer for years, and somehow, a Christmas stocking was
never in the picture.
Even though I’ve done lots of ornaments and looked at lots of
stockings, I was never inclined to purchase one.
When I saw this canvas, I felt it was out of the ordinary and knew
it had to be mine. Sometime
after I’d purchased the canvas, I had the opportunity to take an
embellishment class from Anthony Minieri.
This stocking was my choice for his class.
From start to finish, I never tired of working on this piece.
It was quite a challenge and not because it was so difficult, but
because most of it was so tedious; even down to getting the tiny tassels
all the same size. I
chose to stitch this from top to bottom and watching it come together was
inspiring.
I couldn’t wait to get to the next area.
The finished piece far exceeded my expectation! I feel that what really makes this stocking special is the outstanding canvas by Tapestry Tent and the masterful stitch and thread guide by Anthony Minieri. |
