The Frog Prince is currently holding court in Threadneedle Street, my LNS in Issaquah, WA as an example of the endless possibilities of needlepoint. |

Description: |
I
think I fell in love with the possibilities of how I could turn a frog
into a prince.
Faced with a flat canvas with nine separate pieces, it's a little
daunting to try to imagine how the pieces would fit.
But I loved the colors, and my theme would be to enhance the
richness of his clothing that would obscure his skin, warts and all!
His shoes are velvet slippers with wool stockings; the cuffs on his
arms are trimmed with Princess Lace; his body has the rich deep purple
silk that is reserved for royalty with an angora insert to simulate fur.
To complete the effect, he has lots of metals and semi-precious
jewels that make him sparkle.
This is one of the first pieces where I selected all the materials
and stitches, and I'm really pleased with the results. I've
had a number of requests for a stitch guide for The Frog Prince, upon
which I am currently working. |
