Description: |
I
have a passion for trees, and walking in the wood is a favorite daily
pastime. When fall arrives in my area, the sunsets turn the bark of the
pine trees a vivid orange/red-orange. The trees’ trunks come alive with
color. When looking closely at the trees, I could see the many layers of
tree bark and the spider webbing deep within the crevices. It was exciting
to me to bring forth that part of nature that remains hidden to most
viewers.
Stitching this piece, with its infinitesimal layers, shapes and colors, was quite a challenge. Choosing the exact thickness of threads for each aspect, as well as the composition of the completed stitch, is a trial-and-error process in any piece. One aspect of doing original work is that although there is a vision and then a drawing to work from, the execution can be ever-developing, as if it has its own life. Enjoy this presentation! Learn what you can or want to. Most of all, stitch what you are most passionate about to share a part of yourself with others. |
