Description: |
I am intrigued by the wonderful onion domes of Russia, and I could not resist stitching this version in my own color and stitch choices, based on photos taken in Moscow by a friend and on research done via interlibrary loan. I used the rich earth tones of the cathedral in daytime golds, greens, reds and browns. Threads used include Watercolours, Impressions (solid and overdyed), DMC matte cotton and pearl cotton, overdyed floss and pearl cotton, J.L. Walsh Silk ’n Wool, Spring, Splendor silk and Kreinik #16 metallic braid for the crosses. Creating simulated texture adapted from actual architectural detail was both thought-provoking and challenging. |
