Asian Spring

Stitcher:

Esther Helweg

Designer:

Judy Souliotis

Location:

It is hanging in my home.

Description:

I took this class at the 2001 seminar in Washington, D.C. because it looked like a challenge to stitch. I changed the design by not stitching the border, because I wanted the flowers to stand out.
I stitched this piece because I wanted to learn how to stitch on 40-count gauze and make a 3-D picture. It was stitched using metallics and silk.
Don't be afraid to stitch on small-mesh canvas or gauze. With patience, you will be amazed at what you can do. With a good teacher, it is not as difficult as it looks.
