Heart Hath a Memory

Stitcher:

Roberta G. Montgomery

Designer:

Roberta G. Montgomery

Location:

It is hanging in my home.

Description:

Leslie Durst established a new ribbon category within ANG in memory of Amy Johnson. This category was to be a sampler either original, adaptation, or replication.
The first line of the text "The Heart Hath a Memory" is a quote from Virginia Woolf. The remaining three lines are my own and were added to express my sorrow at the death of my friend, Amy Johnson. The entire quote reads:
The heart hath a memory
And in it are enshrined
Those things dear to me
By love and joy defined
Originally, the top quarter of the piece was to be the entire work...just a small square sampler, you know! Then it seemed to take on a life of its own. As I roamed through my stitch library, more and more techniques demanded inclusion. So it ended up 11" by 33" and pretty much dominated my stitching life for six months.
