Pride of Texas

Stitcher:

Sandra Johnson

Designer:

Denise De Rusha

Location:

It is hanging in my office with my framed ribbon hanging next to it.

Description:

This piece depicts a variation of the Texas flag. My husband and I are both native Texans so Texas-related items appeal to both of us.

I stitched this piece because my husband spotted this canvas in a window at The Needle Works in Austin, Texas. He asked me to stitch it for his office. After I won the ribbon at Seminar, he told me I could have this piece for my office if I would stitch another one for his office. I guess you know what my next project is going to be.

This was my first attempt at doing a piece in all silk and metallic. It was not as difficult as I had imagined and was very rewarding when it was completed. I’d like to thank Colleen from The Needle Works in Austin, Texas for assisting me with my fiber selection. I’d also like to thank Roxanne Langley from Langley House Gallery in Spring, Texas for the wonderful mat design and framing of this piece.
