Stitcher's comments:

The ladies in my Thursday stitching group inspired the design. The design is my original work. The stitch guide was a collaboration between Kathy Fenchel and myself.

The piece is stitched with cotton, rayon, metallic, wool and textured threads. Parts of it are padded, and appliqués and beading were used. The background is an open pattern (scissors in a stripe) and exposes the painted canvas. The Bargello pattern is three patterns combined to give dimension to the chair. The teacup is satin ribbon that has been stitched, wired, cut and appliquéd. The "people" legs and feet on the chair are satin-stitched over layers of padding. The chicken's toes are wired stumpwork, appliquéd and jeweled. Fluffy thread was used for the chicken's feathers and raffia was added for straw.
