This needlepoint piece is a departure for me. I
had never done an abstract and will probably not do another. I was in the home of a computer artist friend, Ms. Janet Norton, who created this picture and had it on her wall. The colors and shading patterns took my breath away. Three years later when I felt my shading skill could do justice to the picture I asked and was given permission to not only do it in needlepoint but also to title it. The original brought to mind the creation of flowers, leaves, and seeds - hence the name. You can see the results. First Place, Judges' Choice, and the Princess Grace Award all at the 2004 ANG Exhibit. How much more could I ask? This piece is 12" x 16" done on 22-count congress cloth using three stands of DMC embroidery thread, the only thread I ever use. Time required to completion was four months. |
