I've always loved charted/geometric designs so Julie's Sunburst Kimono was something of a departure for me. It is charted, but it is definitely not geometric. But I love all of Julie's Kimonos and I wanted to do one. Of course, being me, I immediately had to make it more complicated - I changed the count of the canvas from 18-count to 24-count. That meant that I had to change a lot of the threads as well. And, of course, I changed all the colors. I don't think that I have ever met a suggested color in a design that I didn't want to change, even if only slightly. But that is part of the fun of doing charted designs for me - the ability to change so much without changing the integrity of the design itself. And, while not changing the integrity of the design, to still have the ability to make it uniquely my own. |
