Stitcher's comments:

My daughter lives in a suburb of Charleston and has their traditional wrap around porch. This was a challenge to get the perspective. Jody Adams drew the house itself from a photograph for her class, Needlepointing Your House, at the Lexington Seminar. I selected the fiber and stitches with the goal of getting depth in the needlework. Because there was a lot of detail and color in the composition, I restricted the number of stitches in an effort to avoid chaos. It is worked on Congress Cloth using primarily embroidery floss and overdyes and making good use of the Gobelin Stitch, Leaf Stitches and the ever useful French Knots. It was really fun to work and was truly a labor of love.
