Stitcher's comments:

This complicated piece was stitched over a two year period. I worked on other projects so I was able to perfect the different stitching techniques necessary to achieve the look of this piece. The focal point is the three bears. I started with them and planned all of the other stitches to revolve around their look.
I used multiple fibers so that I was able to learn the blending, shading and multiplication of overdyed threads. I was also able to learn the correct application of silk and metal threads.
With this piece my knowledge of stitches grew ten fold. Because of the complicated design, stitch choice was a real challenge. I focused intently on not using the same stitch repeatedly, and also paid close attention to presenting the correct depth perception and light source.
After completing the piece, I now have the confidence to stitch nearly any needlepoint piece I will come
across. I feel as though I have learned much with this piece, and realize each piece is accomplished one stitch at a time.
