Reflecting
Names: Rosalyn Cherry-Soleil
I am the original designer of both Babes in the Woods and Reflecting.
Serene and oblivious to my presence, the bird stood still as my camera captured its reflections. Nature painted a picture that became more spectacular by the moment. The resulting Needlepoint is created with a photo transfer of the photograph, quilt fabric and needlepoint.
I used Basketweave to recreate the images of sky and water beyond the photo transfer. The colors are blended to allow all parts of the piece to flow together the way nature had created it.
The colors used are soft and subtle with a touch of dark metallic shine.
Creating
Creating on the blank canvas is a challenge which is well worth the effort. Each decision affects the one that follows. Choices can occupy my mind for days. Often a piece must return to my design wall for months. When I next look at it, I have a fresh outlook. It may be a bit easier to see what the piece needs or it may show me what needs to be changed. There are often times when I want to give up on a piece because it’s becoming so difficult. I often say that I stitch myself into a corner and have to find a way out. I do stay with the pieces and they all are completed and framed.
The original pieces that I’m creating using fabric and stitching are called “Canvas Collage.”©
