The Tiny Power of One

Dear Friends, Today is filled with terror, death, and destruction. All freedoms and securities that we have grown to expect have been taken away. It is a time to repair, and not to destroy. We must each do our part to make this happen.
“Tzedakah” means charity in Hebrew. This is a Tzedakah box that is found in many Jewish homes. Money is put into this box each Sabbath, then donated and used for “Takun Olum” which means “The repair of the world”. This act embodies our belief that we are all responsible for each other.
This Tzedakah box that you see is a work of my heart. The Butterfly is sculptural beading and made in Russian Leaf pattern , Peyote one and two drop bead weaving, and is made out of 24 karat gold plated # 11 delica beads and #15 crystal beads. The dimensions are 5¾"×4¼"×2¾". The box is created with metal mesh ground which I painted with gold. The count is 2. I also painted the tyvek material in gold that the print is on. The copper thread that is buttonhole stitched is imported English (real copper) thread. In the box are 18 shiny copper pennies. (“Chai” is the Hebrew number 18 which means life). There are panels on three sides of the box: The story of the Butterfly Effect, an explanation of Tzedakah, and a passage from the Talmud (the Hebrew Commentary on our laws).
*** Editor’s note: copies of sides are above***
The words are from my soul. The tiny butterfly moves small circles of air, and therein lies the tale.
"The tiny power of one".
I am happy to share this with you all.
