Very Berry

Name: Victoria Nessel

Designer: Susan Kerndt

Stitcher’s Comments:

Learning Stumpwork for Very Berry took me to a whole new level of needlepoint. I’ve done needlepoint appliqué before, but Stumpwork, called raised work in 17-19th Centuries, provides much more depth to the flat canvas. I was also delighted to discover that it was not as difficult as I had expected. Adding the attached pieces, some of which were stitched in canvas stitches on silk gauze, was especially exciting. These make the design almost leap off the canvas.
