Fall Foliage
DESIGNER: Judy Souliotis
"Fall Foliage" was designed and taught by Judy Souliotis with the intention of creating a dimensional study using a layering technique. It was worked on two layers of 32 count gauze framed about an inch apart. We were encouraged to decide which trees we wanted to emphasize in the foreground and background through the use of color and density of stitches. Working from a photo of Judy's piece, we placed the smaller branches where we wanted and choose the color of the leaves. As I walk past the piece hanging on my wall, the technique of two layers of stitching takes your eye back through the forest.
