ANG Workshop by Mail

The ANG Workshop by Mail program provides a unique, limited-time opportunity to obtain instructions from leading designers for pieces not available on the retail market. This program is designed to be relaxed and unstructured. There is no need for a computer, no discussion list, no classroom, and no deadlines. This is simply a project you can enjoy at your leisure. A Workshop by Mail project is also well suited for a chapter or group program, with each stitcher providing his or her own stitching materials.
Our second WbM project this year is Ro Pace’s Alori. Alori portrays the magnificent grandeur of flowers. Using the same multilayer pattern of stitches, different colors and threads make each leaf distinctive and flowing as you journey up the flower stalk. The elegant flowers also repeat their own pattern of stitches, shading from dark up to light.
The inner border “presents” the finished flowers. The border on the overlay mirrors the colors on the inner border, while the size of the double fan doubled (DFD) motifs creates the needed depth. The project photo does not do this piece justice because you do not get the full impact of Ro’s design using overlay canvas. You will learn design transfer, couching, waffle, DFD, and multilayering patterned stitches while working with an assortment of silk threads. And, of course, Ro includes suggestions for working effectively with silk.
