ANG Workshop by Mail - Royal Wind
The ANG Workshop by Mail program provides a unique, limited-time opportunity to obtain instructions from leading designers for pieces not available on the retail market. This program is designed to be relaxed and unstructured. There is no need for a computer, no discussion list, no classroom, and no deadlines. This is simply a project you can enjoy at your leisure. A Workshop by Mail project is also well suited for a chapter or group program, with each stitcher providing his or her own stitching materials.
Our first WbM project this year is Carlene Harwick’s Royal Wind. This project fans our interest with a combination of metal thread embroidery techniques and various couching stitches with metallic, silk, cotton floss, and pearl cotton threads, enhanced with bead embellishments. This is an advanced intermediate course for the student who loves silk and metal embroidery. However, since WbM projects are done on your own time frame and in your favorite stitching spot, the piece can be completed by the student of any level who is up for a challenge. A large beautiful sequin is attached with seed beads for an exquisite handle that is suitable for royalty; the fan sections spread out from the handle. This large sequin in one of three colors (gold, black, and iridescent) and gold matte beads may be ordered directly from Carlene for $2.00.
